Fathom Overview

FATHOM is Murmur’s reverb plugin: three real engine modes (Algorithmic, Convolution, Hybrid) built on the same reverb processor used elsewhere in Murmur, plus an AI feature that generates new impulse responses from photos.

An earlier internal audit of this codebase concluded Fathom “wasn’t a reverb product.” That was wrong — it’s a substantially real, 3-mode reverb. The photo-to-impulse-response feature below is one part of it (and is the part still in research/prototype stage), not the whole product. Impulse responses

Convolution mode ships with 216 real bundled impulse responses. The AI-assisted feature — describe or photograph a space and Fathom generates a matching impulse response — is a separate, still-experimental pipeline layered on top of this same convolution engine, not yet a finished feature.
